TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad TP 1st Driver Weight Adjustment & Tuning Guide

The TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad TP 1st Driver has fixed loft/lie/face-angle geometry, but it does give you four movable weight cartridges. The 460 cc, 45 in, factory lofts 9.5°, 10.5° baseline determines how aggressive the weight bias should be.

What the weights actually do: This model's weights are primarily a heel/toe shot-shape system: heavier mass toward heel adds draw bias; toward toe adds fade bias.

Use impact location before changing hardware

How to adjust the weights

  1. Use the correct TaylorMade TLC/torque wrench for this generation.
  2. Loosen only the weight cartridge/screw you intend to move.
  3. Move or swap the weight to the desired documented port.
  4. Seat it fully and tighten to the wrench’s normal torque release/click.
  5. Test several shots before making another change.

Spec combinations and warnings

  • Make one weight change at a time and compare several shots from the same tee/ball position.

30-second baseline setup

  1. Start around half the ball above the crown. If contact is consistently low on the face, raise the tee slightly; if it is excessively high, lower it slightly.
  2. Start with the stock/neutral weight configuration.
  3. Mark impact location.
  4. Change only one weight position at a time.

What not to do

  • Do not try to rotate the hosel; the loft is fixed.
  • Do not mix random third-party weight masses without understanding total head weight.
  • Do not use extreme weight bias to hide a strike problem.
