TaylorMade r7 Quad Mini Driver Weight Adjustment & Tuning Guide

The TaylorMade r7 Quad Mini Driver has fixed loft/lie/face-angle geometry, but it does give you four movable weights: two 13g and two 4g. The 305 cc, 43.75 in, factory lofts 11.5°, 13.5°, 15.5° baseline determines how aggressive the weight bias should be.

What can be adjusted?

Loft / lie / face angle Fixed — no adjustable hosel
Movable weighting Four movable weights: two 13g and two 4g
Standard length 43.75 in
What the weights actually do: This model can shift mass both front/back and heel/toe: rearward is the more forgiving/higher-launch direction; forward is the lower-spin direction; heel adds draw bias; toe adds fade bias.

Use impact location before changing hardware

Typical strike What it usually does Useful response
High face Often raises launch while reducing spin If flight is already high/low-spin, do not keep raising the tee just to chase more carry.
Low face Often lowers launch and adds spin Raise tee height slightly before blaming the loft or shaft.
Heel Can add fade/slice gear effect Work on centred contact; a slightly shorter build can help if heel strikes are common.
Toe Can add draw/hook gear effect Check strike before adding more draw bias.

How to adjust the weights

  1. Use the correct TaylorMade TLC/torque wrench for this generation.
  2. Loosen only the weight cartridge/screw you intend to move.
  3. Move or swap the weight to the desired documented port.
  4. Seat it fully and tighten to the wrench’s normal torque release/click.
  5. Test several shots before making another change.

Spec combinations and warnings

  • Make one weight change at a time and compare several shots from the same tee/ball position.

30-second baseline setup

  1. Because this is a compact head, start a little more conservatively than with a modern 460cc driver: roughly one-third to one-half of the ball above the crown, then adjust in small steps from impact marks.
  2. Start with the stock/neutral weight configuration.
  3. Mark impact location.
  4. Change only one weight position at a time.

What not to do

  • Do not try to rotate the hosel; the loft is fixed.
  • Do not mix random third-party weight masses without understanding total head weight.
  • Do not use extreme weight bias to hide a strike problem.

Source note: Weight hardware is retained from the model-matched TaylorMade adjustment research; tuning advice is conditioned on the captured launch, spin, size and length specs.
