How to adjust the SLDR White Driver

  1. Use the correct TaylorMade torque wrench.
  2. For the hosel, loosen the heel screw until the head releases from the sleeve.
  3. Align the desired sleeve mark with the hosel reference line and fully re-seat the shaft.
  4. For movable weights, loosen only the intended weight screw and move/swap the weight cleanly into its port or track.
  5. Tighten until the TaylorMade torque wrench clicks; do not keep cranking after release.
  6. Change one variable at a time and test several shots.

Best settings for this specific head

Goal Best first move
Higher launch / more spin Move the sleeve one step toward HIGHER and test before jumping to the endpoint. Because this head already launches high, only add loft if actual carry/launch data says you need it. Its spin is already low-to-mid-low, so adding loft can be safer than chasing more rearward weight alone if carry is poor.
Lower launch / less spin Move the sleeve one step toward LOWER and test before using the minimum-loft endpoint. That is a logical first move because this head already launches on the higher side.
More draw tendency Use the more upright/closed sleeve direction as the first hosel test. If more directional help is needed, bias movable mass toward the heel.
More fade tendency Use the lower/more-open sleeve direction as the first hosel test. If more directional help is needed, bias movable mass toward the toe.
Tighter dispersion The 45.5-inch stock length is long; if impact is scattered across heel/toe, a shorter fitted build may help more than another sleeve change.

Spec combinations and warnings

  • Spin is already low-to-mid-low, so the minimum-loft sleeve setting can cost carry if launch is also marginal.
  • This head already launches high. If the flight only looks high but still carries well without ballooning, you may not need to lower it.
  • The movable weight works heel-to-toe. It changes directional bias, not front/rear CG in the way a separate back track would.
  • The 45.5-inch playing length can be a bigger dispersion variable than one small sleeve change.

30-second baseline setup

  1. Start at STD LOFT / neutral unless you already know the current setting is wrong.
  2. Start around half the ball above the crown. If contact is consistently low on the face, raise the tee slightly; if it is excessively high, lower it slightly.
  3. Start the directional weight near neutral/stock rather than at maximum heel or toe.
  4. Hit a small group of shots, mark impact, then change only one setting.
Best tuning order: strike first → loft/launch → face/lie → movable weight system only in the direction that this head actually supports → re-check strike and spin.

Common mistakes

  • Changing the sleeve and movable weights at the same time, then not knowing which change caused the result.
  • Using a front/rear weight system as if it were a heel/toe draw-fade slider, or vice versa.
  • Ignoring playing length when the real problem is heel/toe strike dispersion.
  • Calling a modern TaylorMade 4° sleeve “±4°”; where fitted, it is 4° total range, normally ±2°.
  • Continuing to tighten after the TaylorMade torque wrench clicks.
