Sweep slowly across the flag or flagstick. Target-confirmation feedback helps identify the intended target; it is not a separate accuracy measurement.
Repeated readings differ slightly
Keep the same aim point and take several readings. Small variation inside the published tolerance can be normal; a large repeatable offset is more meaningful.
Yards and metres seem mixed up
Check the unit setting. 100 yd is about 91.4 m, so a unit mix-up creates an error far larger than normal laser tolerance.
Slope distance does not match straight-line distance
That can be normal. Compare the raw/actual laser distance when checking ranging accuracy; slope-adjusted distance intentionally changes the number.
